my electronic activities 1968-2001
1960-1968
The pictures are from my former collection and from my Elacord music equipment production.
Hi... I'm Eddie, I live in Switzerland near Burgdorf. At the age of ten, I started tinkering with old radios and I learned a lot on my own from books. At the age of fifteen, I repaired my first TV sets.
From 1966 to 1969, I completed an apprenticeship in lettering, fine art painting, and graphic design.
Six months later, I began my second apprenticeship in electronics. - 1968 I created the name ELACORD for my future music devices and speaker systems. - 1969 I began designing professional music amplifiers, echo devices, and loudspeaker systems. From 1971 I built all my devices under the Elacord brand name. Everythings was exported to Yugoslavia until 1992... but then a civil war rged there for several years (1992-1999). From one day to the next, all my business contacts broke off. My Friend and intermediary Miroslav from Croatia was "accidentally" shot dead in the chaos of the war in 1992. There was a curfew, but he didn't know that when he arrived in his city by car after 10 p.m. - the dream was over -. Now I devoted myself more to repairing and servicing electronic organs and other devices like audio and tv equioment. I collected audio and musical devices for over thirty years. In June 2001, my entire collection of over 6'300 devices was destroyed when arsonists set fire to the factory buildings that housed my workplace and all my devices during the night.
I was only able to save about 400 pictures and photos damaged by fire's water... and two computer hard drives with ca. 900 digitally images. Many years after this shock, I'm finally going to digitally restore the still usable photos... and I^m showing them here.
I recently rummaged through my old documents and computer hard drives from 1998. I found a mislabeled folder containing a lot of my old catalogs and brochures that I had saved back in the 1990s. Since I only had a simple Mavica camera back then, the images are rather small. I'll digitally enlarge the usable ones and post them here online
